Indian post-graduate students planning to study abroad will have more reasons to pursue higher degrees in research at Deakin University with the announcement of fully-funded PhD scholarships for 2018-19.
Professor Peter Hodgson, deputy vice chancellor (Research), Deakin University, announced eight new on-campus PHD scholarships worth AU$ 1.2 million for meritorious Indian-based students, which will support research projects focussing on specific themes to help prepare a new generation of global leaders with the skills to address real and complex challenges facing the world. The scholarship seeks to build on Deakin’s distinguished position in higher education, with globally ranked multi-disciplinary faculties and schools that foster collaboration and innovation.
The high-value scholarships will be offered to select meritorious and outstanding students from the fields of sciences, engineering, health, information technology, data analytics, smart technologies, arts, business and management for a full time on campus PhD programme. The new scholarships will be available for the entire year (2018-19) to students from the relevant disciplines mentioned above with no application closing dates. Scholarship winners will be selected based on academic merit in qualifying degrees, any prior research experience, publications, alignment with strategic research priorities and other relevant criteria of Deakin’s PhD programme.
Scholars will receive funding (including tuition costs) for three years to pursue doctorate level degrees, coupled with education in innovation, leadership and other curricula designed to advance scholars’ capacity to drive ambitious change in an increasingly complex world.
The selection of the scholars will be conducted by an exclusive panel at Deakin University and the results will be announced by October 2018.
Deakin University’s On Campus PhD scholarship includes:
- Full tuition fee waiver of the PhD program for entire duration of three years
